I often tell people new to Emulation to start off with Retro Arch and get them to set to XMB (PS3 really) as this interface is more relatable to modern day consoles.

I use Retro arch old systems up to 3rd gen (SNES, Genesis,) and arcades. The rest is standalone emulators in front ends like Playnite and Launchbox.

I thought I could play 3DS games with my R4 card. Guess not 😢

My ps4 has updated but would still love to get one and get myself a ps4 which hasn't been updated to try it. So easy to do than others I have seen.

If you don't use frontends with RetroArch then it will be hard for beginners. I think RetroArch is one of the best app for emulation.

Retroarch works well i. Conjunction with a front end. It makes it easy to set up universal settings for a large portion of your systems. Things like crt shaders controls are auto mapped and you can set up hot keys for save states And quitting straight back to your front-end. All those things you struggle with you don't need to touch like importing your library because the front end has taken care of that. Figuring out the cores to download? There two easy options for you. Just download all the cores for the systems you have or within your front end it will likely only have a couple of core options to pic so just make sure you have those particular options downloaded. This may sound like alot to do but its really not and once you have this set up you will have an actually nice to look at interface than has nice artwork perhaps even vedio clips of your games and you wont even have to look at retro arch. You can have it set up so it save states when you exit and auto loads that stat when you play it again as well. It makes using your device like actually using a console. Id recommend using retro arch up until ps1 because then stand alon emulators have actal benefits like enhancements and performance etc. Duckstatoin for ps1 for example n64 mupan64 though the parallel core in retroarch is actually very good. Redream for Dreamcast dolphin for GameCube and neather sx2 for ps2 Now for eas of use on ps1 if you use psxrearmed core as you don't need a bios

Hi there! Thank you for the amazing tutorial. I did encounter an issue where I can't seem to get my Ally controls work if I don't open the emulators, front-end, or games through Steam. I noticed that you didn't set up Steam ROM Manager and managed to just open ES-DE straight and get the controls working fine. Maybe you can confirm that's the case? I'm gonna try use EmuDeck again if I can get it working without Steam.

I've tried this process numerous times and it fails to download everytime. I have tried a few different USB C cables and followed your instructions. Anything else I might be missing? It says"Download Fail: Sahara Fail:QSaharaserver Fail: Process fail"

You don't need high performance nor to drop the cpu clock. I play on performance mode with no tweaks and it runs perfectly fine. High performance is just for switch.

All-in-one tools for hacking consoles have opened up hacking consoles to a much wider audience. I remember the pain I went through to hack my PSP with one of the first hacks that came out. It even required a specific game to do it....

Are there any issues when doing a ps4 pro ? I know at one point someone told me that modding a pro was harder or had some kind of caveat. I’ve got a white pro I’d love to mod but have held off until I saw someone run it on a pro. Thanks for the guide and links. I’ve been seeing these pop up and I think it’s such an awesome mod

I love the UI and customizability of Retroarch, but if you have a lower end Android device, the sperate emulator apps will have better performance.
